Nancy Howe
1950 – 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Howe, the esteemed owner of KnowHowe. Nancy spent most of her life enriching the community of Pinellas County through her dedication to journalism, publishing, and community service.
Nancy began her illustrious career at the St. Petersburg Times while studying archaeology at the University of South Florida. Her passion for the written word and her keen editorial eye soon led her to a distinguished role as Managing Editor of Art & Design News, an international graphic arts magazine. She then joined the Maddux Business Report in July 1989, where she ascended from circulation director to associate publisher, and finally to publisher for the last 12 years. Additionally, she served as the publisher of Maddux NewsWire which became the Tampa Bay Newswire.
Nancy’s contributions to the Tampa Bay area extended far beyond her editorial prowess. She was actively involved in numerous Tampa Bay Economic Development Organizations and held positions on several boards across the high-tech corridor, demonstrating her commitment to the region’s economic growth and development.
Following the closure of the Maddux Business Report in June 2010, Nancy continued to make her mark as the publisher of the daily NewsWire and founded KnowHowe. This venture allowed her to leverage her extensive background in writing, editing, and publishing, solidifying her legacy in the industry.
Nancy’s personal achievements were as remarkable as her professional ones. She was a founding officer of the Tampa Bay Fossil Club, sponsored by MOSI and USF, and received numerous awards for her paleontological discoveries. Her work in this field included writing and producing a nationally recognized monthly fossil newsletter and publishing various books on archaeology and paleontology.
Throughout her career, Nancy was honored with numerous awards and accolades, reflecting her influence and dedication to the community. Nancy Howe’s legacy is one of passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to her community and profession. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and whose lives she touched.
