Fresh off multiple appearances in October decked out as the “Halloween Bus” (complete with 12-foot giant skeleton), SeaSucker’s distinctive yellow and blue ‘66 Volkswagen Bus and ‘72 Volkswagen Beetle have been again transformed into the beloved Christmas Bus and Bug seen around the Gulf Coast for the last six years. The two vehicles are decorated for Christmas each November and December by SeaSucker’s founder Chuck Casagrande in the hopes of creating magical holiday memories for children and adults alike.
The Christmas Bus and Bug’s most anticipated appearance this year is at the 27th Annual Sarasota Holiday Parade on Saturday, December 2. In keeping with this year’s parade theme of Happy Holidays Around the World, the Bus will be sporting a 10-foot inflatable Earth on its roof.
In addition to the globe, the Christmas Bus and Bug have hundreds of festive holiday decorations, all attached with SeaSucker’s innovative vacuum-mount technology, which is most famous for transporting bicycles on team cars in the Tour de France and on 160+ mph supercars. SeaSucker’s Christmas Bus and Bug are covered in 100+ vacuum mounts attaching snow globes, Christmas trees, Santa’s elves, and other holiday favorites. The ‘66 Bus features an authentic caribou head mount on front as well as a fully functional train set on top and a full manger scene inside. The ‘72 Beetle has a slot car track where children can choose from a variety of cars to race along the top of the vehicle.
SeaSucker, LLC, is a family-owned, Bradenton-based manufacturer and retailer of vacuum-mounted automotive racks, marine accessories, and camping/overlanding gear.
SeaSucker wants people to spread the Bus and Bug’s holiday message on social media and will be giving away t-shirts each day for the best tagged post. While the Christmas Bus and Bug have already booked appearances at parades, schools, and parties, additional opportunities for a free visit are available.
