SARASOTA, FL – For longtime All Faiths Food Bank CEO Sandra Frank, her passion for the mission and work of the organization is something she has been proud to wear on her sleeve. Earlier this month, Frank was honored on the national stage by the food bank’s nationwide organization, Feeding America, for her strong and strategic leadership, as well as her commitment to ending hunger.
Frank, who will be retiring at the end of this year, was recognized during Feeding America’s Fall Forum, which brings together the CEOs of Feeding America food banks and partner state associations.
Comments during Frank’s recognition noted her contributions as, “a thoughtful, impressive source leading the way” during recent unprecedented crises, including the pandemic, government shutdowns and repeated hurricanes, which resulted in record levels of need. “Her passion for the mission work and for the neighbors we serve is evident.”
Frank was also recognized for her willingness not only to collaborate, but also her encouragement for others to do so, and for her leadership on the Feeding Florida Board of Directors – having served on the executive committee of that organization since 2016, and serving as chair in 2020 and 2021, through the pandemic.
Frank joined All Faiths Food Bank in 2012 after holding senior executive positions with national health and human service organizations. She brought an extensive background in healthcare, law, public health, and more than 25 years’ experience in nonprofit management and fund development.
In her 12 years at All Faiths, Frank has led the organization to boldly rethink and re-envision the food bank to ensure that ending hunger extends beyond the traditional “food in, food out” model, and targets underlying causes to end hunger before it begins. She oversaw the organization’s major warehouse expansion in 2018, was one of the founders of the Campaign Against Summer Hunger – an effort that feeds students and siblings over the summer – which celebrated its tenth anniversary this year, and helped make the DeSoto Food and Resource Center – to address rural hunger – a reality, with its official opening in 2019.
Frank’s leadership has earned All Faiths Food Bank national and local recognition – including honors such as the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce’s Nonprofit of the Year in 2021 and one of Florida Trend’s “Best Companies to Work For” earlier this year – as a pioneer and model in the program areas of hunger and health, evaluation and rural hunger.
