St. Petersburg, FL (October 25, 2023) – Friday November 3 is the opening reception for St. Petersburg resident artist Robin Roth-Murphy. The show will be at St. Thomas Episcopal Church at 1200 Snell Isle Blvd. NE, in St. Petersburg from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The exhibit, Beyond the Lines, includes mixed-media paintings and assemblages that represent her love of color, textures, found objects and multi-layered collages.
Robin lives in St. Petersburg, Florida where she works out of her home studio as a mixed-media artist. Best known for her distinctive style of blending techniques that use texture and color to create unique works of art, she incorporates nostalgic objects and geometric patterns in her paintings and collages. Robin’s pieces are intriguing, detailed, unique, and spark joy and wonder.
Robin attended Louisville School of Art and Art Institute of Atlanta. She has traveled throughout the US exhibiting her work and has been featured in newspapers and magazines as well as on the cover of Sunshine Artist magazine. You will also find her “Heeling Soles” decorative shoes included in Jane Weitzman’s book, Art & Sole.
Robin enjoys being involved in her community. She has participated in the Women Who Work Portrait Project, a traveling exhibition in the Tampa Bay area that honored the diversity and achievements of St. Petersburg’s women. In addition, she recently received an artist grant from the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance. The grant allowed Robin to create a life-sized female sculpture that she introduced to the community in 2022. This project honored The Red Tent Women’s Initiative – a local non-profit that helps incarcerated women successfully re-enter society. While Robin lived in Atlanta, she was commissioned to design customized dolls for The Mary Byron Foundation, a non-profit that fights against domestic violence.
