75th anniversary of helping people in need

October 28, 2023 by Post

DUNEDIN, FL — November 4-5, 2023: The Junior League of Clearwater- Dunedin (JLCD) proudly announces its 75th Anniversary of providing critical support to individuals and families in need in the North Pinellas County community. Nearly 200 artists will gather at Highlander Park in Dunedin on Saturday and Sunday, November 4 and 5, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to help celebrate the organization’s years of service and raise awareness and funding for families living in poverty in North Pinellas County.

The annual Art Harvest, a highly respected juried show of high-quality art with balanced media featuring nearly 200 artists, held on the first weekend in November at Highlander Park in Dunedin, has helped build a long-lasting impact on the growing number of families battling chronic hunger and poverty. This year’s feature artist is Michelle Mardis, whose iconic award-winning everyday life pieces have won numerous awards.

It has become one of the largest autumn art shows in the Tampa Bay area, drawing nearly 30,000 people of all ages annually. This family-friendly event will feature artists’ booths, food vendors, and a children’s area with art activities.

“Since our founding in 1964, we have helped countless families overcome challenges and achieve their goals. We have worked tirelessly to ensure everyone has access to the resources they need to thrive, ” Melissa Peters, a current JLCD member, said.

The Junior League of Clearwater and Dunedin, a nonprofit organization with over 400 women committed to making a difference in the community, has been a driving force behind initiatives and institutions that make our community a healthier, more vital place to live. JLCD impacts the community through various projects, such as awarding community and education grants and legislative advocacy. Since its inception in 1948, the members have raised over one million dollars and contributed over one million volunteer hours to their local community.
