St. Petersburg, FL – The Warehouse Arts District Association, in collaboration with Dr. Dallas Jackson, a distinguished artist and consultant of arts integration, presents his captivating new collection of works titled “Extirpation: Color, Class and Currency.” This engaging exhibition delves into various facets of African American history, challenging the narratives and perceptions that have shaped the past and continue to influence the present. “My intent in the creation of work is to encourage a discussion about humanity in general. My work as a consultant of arts integration and visual led me to visiting national museums to gather information about African American history.” – Dr. Dallas Jackson.
Dr. Jackson’s art explores historical injustices, systemic racism, and economic disparities, with the aim of sparking empathy and vital conversations about buried memories and historical documentation gaps. The exhibition will be free and open to the public in the Tully-Levine Gallery located at 22nd Street South, St. Petersburg, from October 14th until November 1st.
The Artist Talk will take place on Oct. 25th in Tully-Levine from 6:30-8:30 PM. This is event co-presented by Green Book of Tampa Bay. Admission is free for WADA Members and General Admission tickets are $20. The schedule for the event is as follows:
