Tampa, Fla. – University Area CDC (Community Development Corporation) is delighted to announce the hiring of LaTiecea Hailey-Brown, the highly decorated former principal of Mort Elementary Community School, as chief operating officer. Hailey-Brown will start in her new role on October 16.
With nearly 20 years of experience, Hailey-Brown has fostered strong relationships and collaboration among families and stakeholders in the University Area for nearly a decade. In her most recent position as principal, she cultivated an inclusive environment that empowered students and families to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. .
“LaTiecea truly has a proven track record of success and a passion for our community. We are thrilled to know she will make a positive impact in the University Area overall, as COO at University Area CDC,” said Dr. Sarah Combs, executive director and CEO.
Hailey-Brown has received numerous awards and certifications for her academic roles, including Art Administrator of the Year and nomination for Teacher of the Year. She taught fourth and fifth grade for many years and served as a technology resource teacher before being named principal. Under her watch, Mort Elementary Community School made significant and commendable academic progress.
