SARASOTA, Fla. — New College of Florida economics professors Tarron Khemraj and Sherry Yu have written a research paper published in the Eastern Economic Journal titled “Inflation Dynamics and Quantitative Easing.” The paper addresses one of the most important economic topics in America today, and is a breakthrough for researchers at liberal arts institutions in the field of macroeconomics.
“The work Tarron and Sherry have done addressing a topic that is so central to current events is a source of pride for New College,” said New College Interim President Richard Corcoran. “Research has an important role in the undergraduate experience at New College. The focus on intellectual exploration and inquisitiveness for students guides New College in assembling a dedicated faculty with recognized research credentials.”
Khemraj has taught at New College since 2007. Yu joined New College in 2014. They have forged ahead on macroeconomic research despite the trend of many liberal arts schools abandoning macroeconomics research, discouraged by preferential publication for Fed economists and universities with a “Research 1” designation.
“Inflation Dynamics and Quantitative Easing” is publicly available online through the Eastern Economic Journal.
