SARASOTA COUNTY – It’s time to clean out the garage and gather discarded household items, appliances, junk and tree trimmings as Sarasota County hosts a free community cleanup in the Laurel area from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 16. Dumpsters for residential customers will be available at the following locations: Laurel Civic – 509 Collins Road, Laurel.Johnson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 506 Church St., Laurel. Appliances and car tires smaller than 25 X 16, with a limit of four tires per household, will be accepted at the Laurel Civic site only. Hazardous waste, such as paint, oil, gas, electronics, appliances and computers will not be accepted. Hazardous materials may be taken to the Sarasota County Chemical Collection Center, 8750 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
