TAMPA, Fla. (September 8, 2023) – In response to Hurricane Idalia and Pasco County evacuation orders, HCA Florida Trinity West Hospital, a mental health facility, temporarily suspended services and transferred six patients to other HCA Florida Healthcare mental health programs on August 30, 2023.
The downtime has afforded the hospital and HCA Healthcare West Florida Division teams an opportunity to assess the hurricane damage and the hospital’s mental healthcare services. After careful consideration, a decision was made to transition mental healthcare services from HCA Florida Trinity West Hospital to HCA Florida West Tampa and HCA Florida Largo West Hospitals, effective today. This consolidation will allow the West Florida Division to pool resources and expand capabilities to more positively impact patient care and better serve the broader community.
The consolidation will affect a small number of colleagues. Management and human resources are actively working with those impacted colleagues on the next steps of their careers within HCA Healthcare, based on skills, training and experience.
HCA Florida Trinity West Hospital has proudly served Pasco County and surrounding areas for decades as a vital health partner and provider of quality mental health and wellness services. Over the past decade, demand for the hospital’s services has declined and the facility has treated fewer and fewer patients, with an average daily census of 18 patients over the past year.
Additional information will become available as we move forward in the consolidation transition process.
