Monica Quimby of Tampa, Florida put up a goal and multiple assists with the U.S. Women’s National Sled Hockey Team helping to triumph with her teammates at the 2023 Women’s World Challenge at the Cornerstone Community Center in Green Bay, WI. The second annual competition, sponsored by Citi, was August 31st to September 4th and included teams from USA, Canada, Great Britain and Team World which were composed of athletes from 11 countries.
Team USA swept the 3 preliminary rounds and were victorious over Canada in a hard fought gold medal game 2-0. All games from the Women’s World Challenge were streamed live on the IPC (International Paralympic Committee) YouTube page, and live stats are available on the World Para Ice Hockey website.
Quimby is a co-captain and plays locally on the Tampa Bay Lightning Sled Hockey Team recently winning the 2023 Southeast Sled Hockey League Championship in March. She will also be participating and helping to organize with the Tampa Bay Lightning hosting the NHL Sled Classic at the Advent Health Center on November 16-19, 2023.
