The Straz Center offers Veteran Civilian Arts Ensemble Meet and Greet

August 19, 2023 by Post

WHO:            The Straz Center

WHAT:          Veteran Civilian Arts Ensemble Meet and Greet

WHERE:       Straz Center’s Patel Conservatory

WHEN:          Saturday, Aug. 26, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

DETAILS:     Community members – including civilians, active military, and veterans – interested in dance, music, theater and visual arts are invited to come learn about the Straz Center’s Veteran Civilian Arts Ensemble.

The Veteran Civilian Arts Ensemble is a collaboration of members of our veteran, active duty and civilian arts communities who are interested in the arts and in creating bonds with others. The Ensemble empowers veterans to participate in an artistic experience that can support and enrich their wellbeing, aiding reintegration back into civilian life. It is designed to create an opportunity for our civilian members to gain a deeper understanding of the veteran experience and engage with former active military.

Members of the Veteran Civilian Arts Ensemble typically meet weekly to create together, culminating in the Veteran Civilian Arts Ensemble Showcase, a performance open to the public.

This meet and greet is free, but RSVP is appreciated, by signing up at https://patelconservatory.asapconnected.com/#CourseID=256909. More information is available by contacting communityprograms@strazcenter.org.

The Veteran Civilian Arts Ensemble Showcase is supported as part of the Straz Center’s Straz Salutes and VetArtSpan programs, which are supported in-part by the Creative Forces®: NEA Military Healing Arts Network, an initiative of the National Endowment in partnership with the U.S. Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs. Creative Forces Community Engagement Grant program is managed by Mid-America Arts Alliance.

Sponsors include Real-Time Labor Guide, National Endowment for the Arts’ Creative Forces® initiative, in partnership with Mid-America Arts Alliance, and State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Arts and Culture and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture.
