HUDSON, Fla (August 17, 2023) – HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital has again earned the state designation of Comprehensive Stroke Center recognizing its efforts to deliver the highest quality of care to the most complex cases, offering evidence-based treatments with cutting-edge research protocols.
The Comprehensive Stroke Center designation was issued after an annual survey conducted by DNV-GL, a healthcare accreditation organization, and accepted by the Agency for Health Care Administration.
In 2022, there were fewer than 300 Comprehensive Stroke Centers in the United States.
“Maintaining our Comprehensive Stroke Center status speaks volumes about the staff and physicians who every day make a difference in patients’ lives,” said Sally Seymour, interim chief executive officer.
HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital’s comprehensive stroke care includes a dedicated acute stroke team on-site 24/7, interventional radiology specializing in minimally invasive procedures, rehabilitation services designed to improve quality of life following a stroke, specialized nursing support and a stroke committee that reviews and improves patient care and outcomes.
As part of its comprehensive stroke care program, the hospital recently opened a new, $85-million patient tower which houses a new, 30-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Center on its first floor. Therapists also supervise patients admitted to the service for ongoing physical and occupational therapy in patient rooms and in a spacious gym.
HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital is affiliated with HCA Florida Healthcare, a family of more than 650 affiliated sites of care, including hospitals, physician practices and freestanding emergency rooms. United as a statewide network in 2022, HCA Florida Healthcare includes approximately 11,000 experienced doctors and 79,000 colleagues working together to deliver advanced, collaborative care to more than 8.6 million patients each year.
