August 11, 2023 (Tampa, FL) – St. Croix Capital Companies, an Austin-headquartered commercial real estate firm and its Tampa-based affiliate, Cowboys and Pirates, has acquired real estate in the heart of Ybor City to add to its growing Tampa portfolio.
Located at 1517 E. 5th Avenue, just two blocks from Centro Ybor across from the Centro Ybor Garage, the property will be the new home of Celebrity Cigars and Cigar TV. Owned by the Mobley family, the company is historically known for its hand-rolled cigars (using premium bourbon barrel-aged distillery brands) with roots in tobacco farming and warehouses in Kentucky, and most recently, pioneers in the streaming TV platform.
Celebrity Cigars will specialize in pairing quality cigar blends from around the world and private labeling with major lifestyle brands in entertainment, sports, foods, wines, liquors, apparel, luxury automotive, yachting, and licensing worldwide.
This new location will serve as headquarters for Celebrity Cigars, which signed a long-term lease for the 2,800-square-foot building.
“The property’s prime location just a block from Darryl Shaw’s Gas Worx development made it a highly sought-after space for a variety of tenants,” said Jeremy Peterson, senior vice president of St. Croix Capital Companies and Tampa market president, Cowboys and Pirates. “That allowed us to be very selective in our use for this property, and we believe we’ve found the right match in Celebrity Cigars to complement Ybor City’s rich heritage.”
The Ybor City acquisition follows St. Croix’s recent entry into the Tampa market with the purchase of fully leased 303 N. Rome Avenue in the heart of North Hyde Park.
Scheduled for a September 2023 grand opening, Celebrity Cigars will feature a retail store, offer Ybor City historical tours, host cigar pairing special events, and house a production facility for the company’s “Cigar TV” channel distributed globally on all major streaming platforms and services.
