HUDSON, Fla (August 7, 2023) – HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital has opened a new, $85-million patient tower to meet the needs of communities in Pasco and surrounding counties for rehabilitation, medical, surgical and critical care services.
The 100,000-square-foot tower houses 102 patient beds in a modern, state-of-the-art setting for inpatient rehabilitation, progressive care, surgical intensive care, orthopedics and spine care. The three-story building, also features the hospital’s new main entrance, modern nurses stations, spacious seating areas for patients and visitors, plentiful natural light and large murals of Florida wildlife to create a comfortable, healing environment.
Approximately 120 new caregiver positions have been created to support the service expansion.
The tower houses the new 30-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Center service on its first floor, which opened on March 1. The center complements the hospital’s trauma and comprehensive stroke center programs. Here therapists supervise patients admitted to the service for ongoing physical and occupational therapy in patient rooms and in a spacious gym.
“The new patient care tower provides a comfortable and appealing setting for our patients, physicians and staff,” said Sally Seymour, interim chief executive officer. “We now have a $20 million modernization project underway that expands cosmetic upgrades to all patient rooms and support areas. We plan to complete this by the end of 2024.”
In the past three years, HCA Florida Healthcare has invested another $123 million to update and expand the hospital’s emergency room and several patient care units.
“These current and future investments certainly speak to HCA Healthcare’s commitment to Bayonet Point,” Seymour adds.
