Two of Metro Development Group’s communities were among the nation’s top 50 master-planned communities in new home sales for the first six months of 2023, according to a survey by the RCLCO real estate research firm.
Mirada, located in San Antonio, Florida, which recently opened the country’s largest human-made lagoon, was listed at #33 with a 59 percent increase in year-over-year sales. Epperson, a master-planned community in Wesley Chapel, Florida was #36.
The results place Metro Development as the leader in new home sales for the Tampa market. Florida, meanwhile, was the leading state for new home sales in master-planned communities, represented by 41 percent of sales.
“Metro’s Mirada and Epperson are strong examples of what communities can achieve when developers focus on place-making and a lifestyle that consumers want,” said Karl Pischke, Principal at RCLCO Real Estate Consulting.
More homebuyers are turning to new homes, tied in part to a historically low level of existing homes for sale and homebuilder incentives, such as interest rate buydowns. As of June, new home sales are up nationally more than 23 percent year over year. “We continue to see strong interest in the Metro’s new homes and Lagoon lifestyle,” said Julie Kremner, Broker Liaison for MetroPlaces, Metro Development Group’s lifestyle brand. “Other factors such as location, quality homes, innovative technologies and a wide range of amenities frequently rank high among the reasons homebuyers select our communities.”
