Old school meets new school for a lesson in life skills, careers, and parenthood
[Tampa, FL] – A new upcoming Streamcast called Geek Nostalgia features a mother-daughter cosplay duo highlighting geek rewinds of the 70s, 80s, and early 90s. Kat and Nova will be showcasing geeky and nerdy toys, games, tech, cartoons, and all things nostalgic while also sporting some retro fashions and old school interviews.
Although there is a significant generation gap between the two, both share a wide range of interests from modern day anime and video games to old school toys and cartoons.
“We’re very different, but very much alike when it comes to geeky and nerdy trends.” said Kat of herself and her daughter. “We do almost everything together since Nova has Autism, we lean on each other, support each other and share everything from creative projects to everyday apparel.”
Kat says that unique trends and nostalgia keep them both grounded and appreciating things of the past while innovating for the future. “I’ve been in video games and technology since I picked up a Commodore 64 and my daughter has been doing digital art and voice acting since my husband and I put her own system together when she was three.” she said. “Anything geeky, nerdy, and unique really piques our interest in business and in hobbies because it builds life skills and career pathways.”
The two aren’t new to the stream scene as they are a part of the SteamDragons team, a nonprofit stream team that Kat Founded in 2019. The team speaks regularly at national mental health conferences and educational facilities while providing mentorship and gamification guidance to parents, educators, and counselors on the positive impacts of video games and geek hobbies for life skills and career goals.
