Florida A&M University graduate and Orlando native Jeff Jenkins is on an incredible adventure this summer in the docuseries “Never Say Never” on National Geographic. Scaling 70-foot mountain faces and sailing through windstorms at the edge of the world, Jenkins embodies his motto: “Life begins where your comfort zone ends.”
“After nine years of teaching and experiencing the loss of my stepfather, I felt unfulfilled and yearned for something more. A trip to Rwanda changed everything. I discovered my passion for traveling the world, helping people, and making a living out of it,” said Jenkins. “My platform, The Chubby Diaries, advocates for more size-inclusive travel and encourages plus-size individuals to embark on their own adventures, despite the unrealistic expectations of perfection perpetuated by social media.”
According to the CDC, obesity affects 100.1 million (41.9%) adults and 14.7 million (19.7%) children in the United States.
Jenkins’ inspiring journey has been featured in numerous publications, including Forbes, Ebony, the New York Times, and the Washington Post. He was named one of Travel + Leisure’s 50 Notable People in Travel and one of Austin’s 40 under 40. Jenkins hopes to inspire plus-size travelers to share their experiences without judgment or shame.
Get ready to embark on a new journey of adventure and empowerment as “Never Say Never” premieres on National Geographic US on Sunday, July 9, 2023.
