Lutz, FL – (June 6, 2023) – Bach to Rock, located in Lutz, announced today that the B2R
Battle of the Bands is heading back to The Orpheum (14802 North Nebraska) in Tampa
on Sunday, June 11th, for the school’s bi-annual Battle of the Bands. The Battle is free to
school families, friends, and the community.
The winners will compete against 51 other Bach to Rock locations in the National Battle
of the Bands. In 2022, two Bach to Rock Lutz bands led the nation, with Sick Moose
winning the National Elementary School division and Actual Purgatory voted runner up
in the National High School division.
Battling bands are evaluated based on musicianship, ensemble precision and stage
presence. Judges include Big Rig from 98ROCK, Brian Fink from 933FLZ, Randi West
from WRMF-FM West Palm (formerly from Mix100.7), and Norm Kniess, formerly of
US1035.
Locally this year, B2R students, ages 7-16, will showcase their incredible talent,
performing a mix of original music and popular/classic rock hits, with 11 older division
bands performing from 1-4pm and 8 younger division bands performing from 4:30-6:30.
The schedule is at the end of the release.
Bach to Rock is owned by Rick Schmidt, former radio program director of 98ROCK & Star
95.7 Tampa. Schmidt is credited with helping launch the careers of Creed, Sister Hazel
and Shinedown. Schmidt opened the Bach to Rock franchise location in November 2018.
Bach to Rock offers private in-school and virtual lessons for all instruments (including DJ
mixing) and has a recording studio that bands will use to record their original songs.
The Orpheum is located at 14802 North Nebraska in Tampa. The venue has hosted
thousands of shows over 15 years, including all Bach to Rock Battle of the Bands since
2019.
