SARASOTA, FL – Recent grants are supporting All Faiths Food Bank programs that provide nutrition assistance to community members in need. Two recent contributors to the food bank’s work are Isermann Family Foundation, $20,000 for the BackPack program, and Bank of America Charitable Foundation, $30,000 for the Mobile Pantry Program.
The BackPack Program provides students at risk of food insecurity with “backpacks” filled with kid-friendly, healthy food to take home to eat over the weekends and during school holidays. This program takes place over the course of the school year at 70 schools and youth-serving organizations.
Mobile Pantries provide community members with fresh produce, meats, and groceries at sites throughout the community all year long. Some Mobile Pantries provide community members with pre-packed grocery boxes and others offer the opportunity to shop farmers’ market-style and choose what they want.
“Through our BackPack and Mobile Pantry programs, and by working together with partner agencies and programs, we are able to meet people where they are and reach underserved populations,” said All Faiths Food Bank CEO Sandra Frank. “These programs would not be available without considerable support from generous funders – such as the Bank of America Charitable Foundation and Isermann Family Foundation – from our region and beyond.”
