HUDSON, Fla. (May 15, 2023) – Four New Port Richey graduates, three from Wendell Krinn Tech High School and one from River Ridge High School, have each received $2,000 scholarships from the non-profit Bayonet Point Hospital Volunteer Association to continue their education in their field of choice.
Nominees are required to carry a minimum 3.7 weighted GPA which includes grades earned in Honors or Advanced Placement courses. Applicants also must accumulate at least 150 volunteer hours at HCA Florida Healthcare Bayonet Point Hospital.
This year’s winners are:
Cadence Allen, graduating from Wendell Krinn Tech High School with a 4.5 weighted GPA, will attend the University of Central Florida as a biochemistry major with career ambitions of becoming a medical examiner.
Bea Anne Buencamino, also graduating from Wendell Krinn Tech High School with a 4.3 weighted GPA, will attend the University of South Florida as a biomedical major with a goal of becoming a psychiatrist.
Billy Pastis, graduating from River Ridge High School with a 4.5 weighted GPA, will attend the University of Florida as an engineering major with hopes of becoming an electrical engineer.
Katerina Zoumadakis, graduating from Wendell Krinn Tech High School with a 4.3 weighted GPA, will attend the University of Central Florida as a pre-med major with an eye on becoming a pediatrician.
“These four graduating seniors have demonstrated excellence both in the classroom and in the community,” says Donna Owen, director of volunteer services and pastoral care at HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital. “Our hope is these scholarships help pave the way for these outstanding individuals to continue on their academic journey.”
This marks the 28th year the Bayonet Point Hospital Volunteer Association has awarded scholarships to eligible high school seniors.
The non-profit arm of HCA Florida Healthcare Bayonet Point hosts craft sales, bake sales and other activities to raise money for the scholarships and other community initiatives.
