Universal Flamenco Studio and Pub opened its doors this April at 7603 Gunn Highway. Ste. A in Tampa. The establishment offers Flamenco Dance, Singing, and Percussion Classes for all ages and all levels. Classes are taught by Master Flamenco instructor Irene Rimer, “La Chata,” who studied at Amor de Dios studios in Madrid under legendary flamenco masters and performed in Spain and abroad, and Alejandro Llanes, a graduate of the Spanish Ballet of Cuba.
Dr. Irene Rimer, founder of Universal Flamenco, Inc., is an old school international Flamenco performer and choreographer who advocates rhythmic precision as a constructive way to master the emotional nature. On Nov. 16th, 2010, UNESCO declared Flamenco one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Flamenco not only offers artistic expression of a culture, but it endows the student with important benefits, virtues, such as coordination, balance, focus, self-esteem, and rhythm in the process of learning this beautiful art form.
Irene has an extensive background that includes Classic Spanish, and Flamenco fusions with Oriental dance. Dr. Rimer has choreographed for Opera companies. Additionally, Dr. Rimer is a Doctor in Philosophy, martial artist and metaphysician, the establishment therefore also offers classes including internal energy training, and metaphysics classes, lectures, and meetings.
This Fall, Universal Flamenco will also present a “Tablao Flamenco” once a week, a genuine Flamenco tablao performance with live musicians for the interested audience and Flamenco aficionado to educate on the benefits of Flamenco and promote its culture. Ole!
