Bradenton, Fla. – Centerstone, a nonprofit health system specializing in the treatment of mental health and substance use disorders, hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 25 to celebrate the recent completion of a $3M expansion and renovation of the hospital.
More than 100 people attended the ceremony including a Sarasota County commissioner, representatives from community partners including National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Manatee Chamber of Commerce, Florida Department of Health, Manatee County Government, as well as Centerstone board members and staff. Regional CEO, Melissa Larkin-Skinner spoke briefly about the six-decade history of the hospital, Centerstone’s impact to the community, and the patient safety features of the expansion, before cutting the ribbon in front of the crowd.
“We’ve had a strong commitment to our community since 1955. It has been a dream to design a space that brings together natural light, a comfortable environment, and cutting edge safety features, to provide the highest quality of care possible” added Larkin-Skinner.
The facility improvements are made possible by generous donations from the Bishop Parker Foundation and the William G. & Marie Selby Foundation.
“We are proud to partner with Centerstone to enhance the vital services they provide and look forward to helping ensure mental health care is accessible,” said Adell Erozer, executive director the Bishop Parker Foundation.
