Keep Your Memories Close: Golden Triangle is Local
Tampa, Fla. – Golden Triangle, a beloved Tampa family-owned company that has been helping Florida residents preserve their memories for decades, has changed with the times and now is celebrating 70 years in business.
“Our mission is to help families archive life’s memories to ensure they will be remembered and treasured over time. Memories are captured on many different mediums that change and evolve with time. We help families organize, consolidate and archive all of their memories, from printed photos, to tapes, to slides, to film to digital photos and videos,” said Kelly Winterling, owner.
In 1953, Samuel Sellers, Sr. opened the business, then called Sam’s Photo Center, while stationed at MacDill Air Force Base. At the time, the company was a retail camera store and full-service photo lab, developing film and providing supplies to local schools and the military. Sellers worked as the official photographer for MacDill Air Force Base, perfecting his skills with training from an elite team of military photographers.
In later years, Sellers expanded to five locations in Tampa with each of his three children operating a store. Samuel (Sam) Sellers, Jr. grew up in the photo lab business and enjoyed working with his father for many years. In 1998, Sellers, Jr. bought the family business, which consisted then of two locations. He broadened the scope of business, offering film/video transfers, trial exhibit services, photo restorations and corporate headshots in his portrait studio.
In 2017, lifelong family friend Kelly Winterling, who was like a daughter to Sellers, joined the business and began helping Golden Triangle expand its services to the next generation. When Sellers retired last year, Winterling took over ownership and management.
Over the years, Golden Triangle’s product and service offerings have changed, as the age of digital has become mainstream. Today, the company’s main focus is digitization services, all of which continue to be performed locally to ensure customers’ special memories will never be lost in the mail. Additional services include creation of photo books and legacy videos; photo restoration, colorization, scanning and printing; corporate headshots and passport photos.
Though the services and offerings have changed over the years, quality and customer service at Golden Triangle continue to remain top priorities.
Currently, Golden Triangle is located in the Garcia Vega Cigar Factory at 3104 N. Armenia Suite 2, in a co-op workspace. For more than 30 years, the company was located on Kennedy Blvd., until February 2022, when the business relocated to its current location.
