WINTER PARK – Real estate entrepreneur and educational philanthropist John Crossman will be a keynote speaker at Yoba Development’s inaugural generational wealth-building activation event on Friday, May 12 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York.
A leader in supporting diversity in higher education and the business community by endowing scholarships at HBCUs, Crossman was selected to speak by the organization’s founder Malik Yoba. The accomplished actor is known for his detective role on the drama New York Undercover that aired in the 1990s. Yoba made the career shift into New York commercial real estate development driven by a commitment similar to Crossman’s – to see a more diverse population recruited into the commercial real estate industry to bridge the wealth gap.
At the event entitled “From The Ground Up – Flipping the Hood,” Crossman will be speaking on the topic “Who is Responsible for Re-building Our Communities?” He will be joined by like-minded speakers including architects, developers, urban planners, and scholars all sharing experiences and strides they’ve made toward advancing access to real estate and generational wealth building.
“I am thrilled with this opportunity to be among the esteemed leaders speaking at this inaugural event who share the same philosophy for the goal of financial equity for diverse individuals,” Crossman said, adding “To be on the same team with a celebrity like Malik Yoba who chose a commercial real estate career is truly an amazing endorsement of our efforts,” Crossman said .
