The “Mecca of Bodybuilding” will open this fall
Founded in 1965 by Joe Gold, Gold’s Gym has a legacy of serious strength training and go-to destination for bodybuilders, fitness enthusiasts, and celebrities alike. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Phil Heath, and Jay Cutler have perfected their craft at Gold’s and fitness influencers such as Gold’s Gym Global Brand Ambassador Simeon Panda, continue that tradition now. Kimberlee Curtis, local Tampa resident, and her business partners will be opening Gold’s Gym Tampa Gas Worx later this year in downtown Tampa, offering the same top-quality equipment and facilities that make Gold’s Gym an internationally known fitness brand.
Gold’s Gym Tampa Gas Worx will occupy space in a 25,000-square-foot Flatiron building located just south of Four Green Fields at 802 N 12th St, Tampa, FL 33602. This unique building, owned by local developer Darryl Shaw, is undergoing a renovation into a state-of-the-art strength training gym with indoor/outdoor training spaces, much like the brand’s Venice Beach flagship location.
“With Kimberlee’s visionary leadership, this gym is more than just a place to workout – it is helping to create a vibrant and inclusive urban community. And it’s not just about fitness – it’s about the health and well-being of the entire community,” said Darryl Shaw, Gas Worx Developer.
Curtis added, “The Gold’s Gym brand embodies everything fitness enthusiasts and I love about strength training. Opening the first-ever Gold’s Gym in downtown Tampa will create a positive and supportive environment where members can achieve their goals, motivate one another, and make new friends, while building a real sense of community. We are introducing innovative equipment and amenities at this facility Tampa hasn’t seen in a gym here before. Like Joe Gold said, ‘The object of going to the gym is to have fun,’ we are excited for our members to workout, hang out and have a great time!’”
Gold’s Gym Tampa Gas Worx will feature German-engineered and built equipment by Gym80. This marks the brand’s entry into the Tampa market and expands on their strong relationship with Gold’s. Greg Nigro, from Gym80, said, “Kimberlee is creating something truly exceptional in Tampa, I’m confident that people are going to be absolutely enthralled with this gym.”
The facility will offer specialty equipment rooms, posing studio, smoothie bar, pro shop, personal training, luxury locker rooms and an upgraded membership option for use of a private lounge/co-working space. With everything members need to achieve their fitness goals and the option to work and socialize in the member lounge, this Gold’s is a one-stop shop for fitness, wellness, and productivity.
Kevin Christie, VP of Gold’s Gym Franchising said, “Downtown Tampa is about to get stronger! We are thrilled to work with Kimberlee and her partners who have signed development rights to open multiple Gold’s Gym locations within the greater Tampa/St Pete/Sarasota market.”
