Cars lined up at the 2022 Clerk’s Spring Community Shred Day event

BRADENTON, Fla. (April 12, 2023) – The Office of Angelina “Angel” Colonneso, Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller for Manatee County, will be hosting a free Community Shred Day Event this spring. The event offers residents the opportunity to dispose of personal documents for free in a secure and safe manner.

The event will be held on Saturday, April 22, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the Manatee County Fairgrounds located at 1402 14 Ave W, Palmetto, FL 34221.

“As custodians of court and public records, the protection of sensitive information is a top priority of our office,” said Angel Colonneso, Manatee County Clerk & Comptroller. “This is why our office offers residents a way to securely dispose of documents that may contain sensitive information to protect themselves from identity theft.”

ShredQuick/Vital Records Control, a professional shredding company that is AAA Certified by the National Association for Information Destruction, will provide shredding services for this event.

The event will accept documents of any color or type of paper, as well as plastic credit cards and IDs. However, electronic recycling or hard drive destruction services will not be available at the Spring Community Shred Day Event. The Clerk’s office plans to bring these services back to future community shred day events.

Binders, junk mail, magazines, or newspapers will not be accepted. Items such as paper clips, staples, rubber bands, labels, and file tabs do not need to be removed. Each person can bring up to two standard-sized bankers’ boxes, measuring 12 inches by 10 inches by 15 inches of documents to be shredded.

All participants must remain in their vehicle with their documents until a staff member or volunteer securely places their items into a bin to be shredded. No drop-offs will be accepted.
