Outdoor epicurean event annually fills St. Petersburg’s Bayshore Drive and attracts hundreds of supporters of public radio. |
Tampa, Fla (April 5, 2023) – WUSF Public Media’s “Longest Table” annual epicurean dinner was a fabulous success, as more than 600 hundred friends and supporters gathered together to celebrate the organization and support programs and content. The gala is held along Bayshore Drive in downtown St. Petersburg each year, with a series of restaurants serving elegant food and fine wine. |
The dinner has been hailed as one of the largest fundraising events of the year and is catered by several of the region’s preeminent restaurants. Guests are served a four-course gourmet meal paired with fine wines from the restaurant of their choice at a table that spans several hundred yards from the Vinoy Hotel to the Museum of Fine Arts. |
All funds raised by the gala go to support programs at WUSF Public Media, which operates the local NPR station and broadcasts popular programs such as “Morning Edition,” “Florida Matters,” “The Zest” and “Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me!,” as well as Florida’s classical music station, WSMR 89.1 and 103.9. Tickets for this year’s event sold out again within weeks. “Every year, we look forward to gathering with friends and supporters for this wonderful event,” said WUSF General Manager JoAnn Urofsky. “We are truly thankful for this community’s broad support of public broadcasting, and we look forward to next year to host another fantastic gathering.” |
Restaurants this year included a diverse selection from Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sarasota, including Catering by the Family, Curated Events, Mattison’s, Parkshore Grill, Pier 22/Grove and The Twisted Indian. Urofsky extended a special thanks to all the event sponsors and WUSF staff that supported the gala to contribute to its success. Sponsors of the event this year included Adalay Interiors, Pinellas Community Foundation, The City of St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg College Foundation, Terry Brackett, in memory of Mary Lynne, the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay, TGITTHH Group, The USF Foundation, Barbara Sansone, Luis & Cherie Velez, Bob Ziegler, Tampa Bay Magazine, Trenam Law, Jean Barnes, Rene’ Renton & Cheryl Renton-Lange and Sandie Spangler. Planning is already underway for next year’s event, and supporters are encouraged to act quickly, as tickets regularly sell out.
