TAMPA, Florida, March 2023: GTE Financial continues to give back to members and support education with its 12th annual student scholarship program. The credit union has elevated its awards from $2,500 to $3,000 to support student members and their educational journeys. This year, students in trade schools are eligible to apply for the first time as well. GTE will award the scholarship to 26 students in total, 24 seeking undergraduate degrees and two trade school students.
“We are thrilled to have been able to raise the scholarship amount for the future leaders of Tampa Bay,” says Jennifer Maxfield, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of GTE. “At GTE, we are honored to recognize students who understand the value of community and giving back and are working hard to commit to their future.”
The GTE Student Scholarship assists with tuition, fees, books, supplies, and equipment needed to pursue an undergraduate degree or program certificate. Requirements include an essay stating the student’s experience helping the local community and the impact of their involvement. A panel of 20 respected community leaders will determine the winners based on the quality of their essays, academic merit, community service, and work experience.
Eligible students can apply now until June 4, 2023. Applicants must be a member of GTE Financial to be eligible. If you are interested in becoming a valued member, please visit gtefinancial.org/scholarships.
