Nestle Joins Global Tenant Roster at Midtown West in Midtown Tampa

March 8, 2023 by Post

World’s largest food and beverage company will relocate its sales office to Midtown Tampa, a 23-acre mixed-use community

Nestle’s move to Midtown Tampa illustrates a larger trend of global companies opening offices in the booming metro area

TAMPA, FL (March 8, 2023) – Highwoods Properties, Inc. and Bromley Companies today announced that Nestle, a multinational food and beverage corporation, will relocate its Tampa headquarters to Midtown West in the 23-acre Midtown Tampa mixed-use district. Nestle will move from its Downtown Tampa location into Midtown West - the 152,000-square-foot Class A office building and Midtown’s first office tower. The market’s enthusiastic response to Midtown Tampa’s work-placemaking options has seen Midtown West and The Loft achieve 98% leased status and has provided great momentum to the recent groundbreaking for Midtown East, Midtown Tampa’s next-generation 18-story office tower delivering in early 2025.

Nestle’s investment in Midtown Tampa reflects a larger trend of international companies expanding in the flourishing Tampa Bay area. Among the global tenant roster at Midtown Tampa is Switzerland-based Nestle, Austria-based RHI Magnesita, UK-based Savills and Netherlands-based Randstad. While headquartered in the US, Prudential, Primo Water and Greystar are among the development’s tenants with international footprints. Midtown Tampa presents a unique opportunity for global companies given its proximity to Tampa International Airport, unique live-work-play-stay atmosphere and access to the area’s strong talent pool and growing population.

“Midtown Tampa’s central location, proximity to major transit hubs, incredible visibility and desirable on-site amenities has continued to attract forward-thinking customers, from global corporations to local businesses,” said Nicholas Haines, CEO of Bromley Companies. “The office spaces that are flourishing offer convenience, unique experiences and a sense of community, which is something we’re proud to have built across the development. As live-work-play environments continue to outperform in the office sector, we’re excited to be at the helm and to welcome tenants like Nestle to our community,” noted Dan Woodward, Senior Vice President and Tampa Market Leader at Highwoods Properties.

Nestle plans to open its new sales office at Midtown West later this year. Headquartered in Switzerland, the multinational company employs over 275,000 people worldwide, with around 30,000 based in the United States.

Situated in Westshore, Midtown West’s prime location boasts immediate access to I-275 and a short seven-minute drive to Tampa International Airport. The 152,000-square-foot, 8-story office building offers collaborative common spaces, first and second floor lobbies and access to all of the mixed-use development’s amenities. The building is LEED Silver and Fitwel certified and incorporates sustainable features like energy management systems, high efficiency HVAC drives and water conserving fixtures.

“Midtown Tampa offers tenants a convenient, central location with world-class office space and unique amenities that are appealing to employees,” said Craig J. Richard, president and CEO of the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council. “Tampa’s profile is rising nationally and internationally, and we see that reflected in the mix of retailers and office tenants that the Midtown Tampa team has been able to attract. We’re delighted to see that Nestle is continuing its commitment to the Tampa area.”

Bill Reeves with Colliers represented Nestle, and Lauren Coup and Brad Heeter with Highwoods represented the landlord for the deal.

The announcement of Nestle furthers incredible momentum underway at Midtown Tampa. Midtown East, the newest Class A office building within the development, recently broke ground this past January and will be 18 floors across 430,000 square feet. Once complete in 2025, Bromley and Highwoods will jointly own 143,000 square feet of the tower, consisting of five floors of office (floors 10 through 15) and ground level retail. The remaining 11 floors of Midtown East will serve as the future headquarters of Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas.

Comprising roughly 23 acres, the $1-billion Midtown Tampa development created a new residential and commercial district within the city of Tampa. The development is master planned for over 700,000 square feet of office space, 390 rental apartments, 225 hotel rooms, and 185,000 square feet of retail space. Midtown Tampa also encompasses a Midtown Commons public space, a dog park and a three-acre lake and recreational trail open to the public. Within the completely walkable neighborhood, guests, residents and tenants enjoy top national retailers and restaurants including REI, Sephora, Shake Shack, True Foods Kitchen, and Whole Foods, among others.
