Gulfport, FL – Continuing a series of educational and entertaining creative events, DRV Gallery in Gulfport is set to host one of the world’s leading book excavation artists for a talk and live demonstration on March 18th from 1-3pm.
Multiple-award-winning artist Ted Wray rescues books from the recycling bin, transforming them into mind-expanding, exciting new 3-dimensional worlds of inexhaustible exploration and wonder. And he does all this with just a blade and his imagination.
“Books contain secrets,” says Wray. I like digging deeper because, while we can’t see all the answers at once, we can glimpse the beauty of the interaction of chaos and order.”
Wray has had careers in the fields of printing, music and art, earning him multiple awards in his pursuit of excellence in each career. In 2019, he redirected his creativity into becoming one of the world’s most innovative Book Excavation Artists, and has since then earned numerous awards from New York to Florida. His unique style allows the viewer to glimpse imagery from every page in the book at once, integrating the four dimensions of width, height, depth and time.
Says Wray: “I’m fascinated by the interplay of chaos and order. I’m offering a new view into something that’s always been there. The book is not what you think it is.”
Wray is one of eight artists on display at DRV Gallery, and his work can be viewed in their online collection at tinyurl.com/DRVGalleryTedWray.
