Tampa, Fla (February 23, 2023) — Engaging Local Government Leaders (ELGL) recently announced their Top 100 Local Government Influencers for 2022 filled with executive level decision makers from throughout the country. Among those honored sits Janelle McGregor, director of community engagement and partnerships for the City of Tampa. McGregor is the only honoree listed from the state of Florida.
“Janelle is a champion for the residents of Tampa and has a deep understanding that cities that thrive most are those where government collaborates and works hand in hand with residents to improve the quality of life in every neighborhood,” stated Mayor Jane Castor. “She is a community engagement star.”
Before being appointed as the director of community engagement and partnerships for the City of Tampa, McGregor served as the Tampa Police Department (TPD) spokesperson keeping the public informed, managing social media content and several community policing initiatives. Now, in her current role, she works to educate and engage the community on a wide range of projects, resources and programs including Bridges to Business and Coffee with Castor.
This impressive list of local government accomplishments would be one thing on its own, but it’s constantly challenged by outside forces: financial challenges, aging infrastructure, shifting priorities, and the global pandemic. Local government officials power on, making the service they provide to their respective communities even more incredible. The honorees, recognized for their unwavering public service, are selected from peer nominations with the final selection made by ELGL.
