It Takes a Town Square! Join the Grand Opening Celebration!

February 18, 2023 by Post

North Sarasota, Florida – Town Square University Parkway is excited to announce its Grand Opening Celebration. This event will take place on Thursday, March 2nd from 4 PM – 7 PM. This FREE family fun event is an opportunity to celebrate two new businesses coming to the Sarasota area, Town Square University Parkway, and our nonprofit organization All 4 the Members. Festivities include a meet and greet with the mayor, a meet and greet with Tam Cummings, a ribbon cutting event with the local chambers, live music by The Glass Onion Band, 20 local vendors, FREE food, and FREE drinks for guests to enjoy!

This event will come to life in our beautiful town center. Picture a 1950s-style town, filled with vintage memorabilia, 15 unique midcentury storefronts, and even a 1956 Pontiac. That’s what you’ll find when you step into Town Square University Parkway. The unique adult day program is geared toward helping seniors with dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and other mobility issues. This reminiscence therapy helps evoke happy memories.

Located on Lockwood Ridge Road off University Parkway (in the Walmart shopping center next to PetLand).

All of the proceeds collected from the Grand Opening Celebration will go toward funding the nonprofit organization, All 4 the Members.

Wanting to know more about Town Square University Parkway?

To become part of the Town Square family, potential members will participate in an assessment that examines their physical and cognitive abilities. In addition to determining if the person is a good fit for the program, the assessment results help place members with other like-minded members.

Town Square operates on a planned schedule, with directed activities taking place in each storefront daily. Members rotate to the different areas with others in their assigned groups. Activities can range from playing trivia in the movie theater to planting herbs in the garden shop. An open area has lawn games like cornhole and a putting green, and the neighboring PetLand will bring animals weekly for pet therapy.

Their services include breakfast and lunch, and the meals are served each day in the vintage-looking Rosie’s diner.

Unlike most other adult day programs, Town Square University Parkway also has a medical component. It offers primary care, lab services, and psychiatry, as well as physical, occupational, and speech therapy five days a week. Podiatry, dermatology, and audiology are available quarterly. These services, along with an on-site hair salon and barber, are aimed at making life easier for the members’ caregivers. The one-stop shop concept means the caregiver can work full-time, run errands or enjoy a deserved break during the day.

A caregiver support group holds sessions once a month, facilitated by Alzheimer’s Association, and monthly educational events teach family members how to help their loved ones and how to care for themselves.

“Our goal is to be a resource for families in the community,” Betts says.

Another way Town Square will aid local residents is by offering an array of membership packages. After paying a one-time fee, the daily rate varies. The more visits per week, the lower the daily cost. Town Square will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

For Veterans receiving aid and assistance currently, Town Square’s services are FREE! The Town Square team is honored to serve the Veterans in our area!

Tell me more about All 4 the Members nonprofit!

All 4 the Members is a Florida nonprofit organization that is geared towards helping seniors with four key components, resources, services, transportation, and memberships within the Town Square environment. Our founders saw a need for our center within the community, and since our opening, we saw an even bigger need to give back to those in need.

Current members can apply for scholarship opportunities to help them with the areas that they need most. The application process is simple and encourages families to reach out when they are needing help. All 4 the Members is currently looking for donations and partnerships, to find out more about this please email Sue directly at svipond@all4themembers.com
