WHAT: Free Your Mind stress management classes for men
WHEN: Wednesdays, Feb. 15 and 22, 6 to 8 p.m.
WHERE: University Area Community Center, 14013 N. 22nd St. Tampa, FL 33613
DETAILS: Free stress management classes will be given for men who are caregivers of young children. The goal is for participants to learn to understand their emotions and stressors, the effects they have on them and ways to manage them. They will experience a safe supportive environment to explore stress management techniques with hands on activities.
Sessions will be led by therapist Samantha Paris, LCSW, of REACHUP (Respond, Educate, Advocate, & Collaborate for Health in Underserved Populations). “The effects of stress can be detrimental to our minds, bodies, and souls. Learning to manage our stress can help us live happy healthier lives,” said Michele Rivera, peer support navigator coordinator.
Men who live in Hillsborough County and are caregivers for children ages newborn to eight are eligible. Light refreshments will be provided. In addition, new sessions will be offered for men, in Spanish, starting March 1.
More information is available by calling Rivera at 813.712.6316 or MRivera@reachupincorporated.org. Sponsors include University Area CDC, Children’s Board of Hillsborough County and REACHUP.
