In what was initially expected to be a quiet, but fun game something amazing happened here in the Bay Area. The St. Pete awakened by the new rivalry and coming into their own fought a competitive hard nose game against the usually dominate Tampa Bay Fury. This Bay Area game has always been a classic between the two teams and they did not fail to provide excitement. The St. Pete Tide took off with energy early and took advantage of quite or lackadaisical defense by the Tampa Bay Fury, however this would not last. Although the game was close, the Tampa Bay Fury held the lead 70% of the game and tightened up towards the end. Coach Riley turned the game into a defense and rebounding game towards the end, with star defenders stepping up such as James Harrison, Saladeem Dewberry and Messiah Turner. James Harrison had at a minimum 6 steals, 4 coming critically in the 4th quarter, while Messiah Turner, slowed down a hot shooting guard at critical moments. Saladeem Dewberry and Malick Scene protected up the middle to lead the Tampa Bay Fury to a 109-105 win against their across the bridge rivals. This is certainly a game that should be annual!
