Music Compound presents performance workshop with Yaya Diamond

February 3, 2023 by Post

Professional artist Yaya Diamond will lead a performance workshop at Music Compound on February 18

SARASOTA, FL – While there are many players and singers who are comfortable with the technical aspect of music, owning the stage during a performance is entirely another thing. In order to help individuals looking to enhance their live performance chops, Music Compound presents professional artist Yaya Diamond and a special guest to provide coaching and feedback during a two-hour performance workshop.

The session will take place on Saturday, February 18, 10 a.m.-noon at Music Compound SRQ (1751 Cattlemen Rd., Sarasota). Vocalists, band members and solo performers ages 13 and up are invited to attend.

Diamond is the daughter of international recording artist Evelyn Thomas, the niece of the first Black Metropolitan Opera singer Robert McFerrin, and the cousin of Grammy Award-winner Bobby McFerrin. She has opened – as a solo act and member of The Crashers, a Southwest Florida premier band – for artists such as Mary Mary, Aaron Neville, The Former Ladies of The Supremes, Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, Here Comes the Mummies, Rare Earth and many more. She has a Grammy Award-nominated single to her credit, “Everything Will be Alright,” and was nominated to the Florida Music Hall of Fame. She was previously a featured vocalist with renowned funk band Reverend Barry & the Funk and currently performs extensively with Yaya Diamond & The Dream Chasers throughout the Tampa Bay area.

“We are so excited to welcome Yaya back to Music Compound – she has previously taught private lessons here and her last performance workshop a few months back was very successful,” said Music Compound owner Jenny Townsend. “With her distinguished family history and her own industry achievements, she will be a tremendous resource for those who attend the workshop, helping to boost their confidence and enabling them to grow musically.”

Cost is $10; enrollment is limited to the first 15 who register. Call (941) 379-9100 to register.
