Administered through the Dept. of Economic Opportunity, funds may be used for start-up costs, franchise fees, procurement, equipment, inventory, and purchase, construction, renovation or tenant improvements of an eligible place of business. Welcome New Businesses: Liberty Health Sciences and DogEdin Republic DogEdin is a specialized dog training and boarding facility located at 136 E. Oakwood St. Owner Andrea Bolender and her team offer board and train, in-home, and exclusive services including field trip training. They are members of the International Association of Canine Professionals. Liberty Health Sciences opened in January at 41680 US Hwy 19, just south of Lowe’s. The medical cannabis dispensary is a subsidiary of AYR Wellness and operates nationwide with more than 50 locations in Florida.![]() ![]() |
CoHatch Brings New Concept to Downtown The Board of Commissioners in January gave final approvals for CoHatch, a business that is bringing co-working space, private offices, meeting and event venues, and a restaurant to the building at 121 E. Tarpon Ave. The owners also are adding on a two-story 6,500 sq. ft. rear addition that includes an outdoor patio/bar as an extension of the restaurant. The restaurant, Made Whole, will feature a Mediterranean menu. Construction and renovations will begin soon for an expected opening of early 2024.![]() |
Coming Soon: Hacienda Corralejo Mexican RestaurantMore international cuisine is coming to Athens Street on the Sponge Docks. Hacienda Corralejo is opening soon at 459 Athens St. The owners are renovating the interior from the previous Italian theme, and expected to open within the next month. The new restaurant will offer traditional, authentic Mexican fare including signature margaritas.![]() |
City Exploring New CRA in Central Tarpon Springs Community Redevelopment Areas (CRA) are an economic development tool to revitalize areas of a City. The Downtown CRA has seen economic growth and new businesses since it was created in 2000. The City is exploring the feasibility of creating a new CRA in Central Tarpon Springs and is hosting informational meetings along with online engagement activities through ConnectTarponSprings to gauge resident opinions and input.![]() |
Barge Arrives at Anclote River; Dredging Operations to BeginBarges and equipment are arriving and dredging operations are expected to begin in February on the Anclote River Federal Channel Inner Cuts (the area between Alt. 19 and the Gulf). Dredging of the Extended Turn Basin (the area north of the City Marina) will start upon completion of the Inner Cuts dredge. The federal dredge of the “Outer Cuts” near Anclote Key is expected to begin in 2024.![]() |
