WHO: The Straz Center
WHAT: Virtual Town Hall Meetings
WHERE: Facebook Live: https://www.facebook.com/StrazCenter
DETAILS: In an effort to amplify BIPOC (Black Indigenous people of color) voices, The Straz holds a series of live, virtual town hall meetings, called Voices of the Community as part of its Amplify Project. Each gathering is held at 8 p.m. on the Straz Center’s Facebook page, as a Facebook Live event.
Each Voices of the Community town hall focuses on a different theme:
- Thursday, Jan. 26 – Let Freedom Ring: Everyone is welcome to be part of the important conversation about the individual meaning of freedom. How do we define freedom, how do we find a way forward when we face divisive topics and how do we continue to build a healthy and united community?
- Thursday, March 23 – Disability Awareness Month: Join us for a conversation with members of the community who are differently abled, as we discuss disability awareness month and the history behind it.
- Thursday, May 25 – A Path to Healing, Understanding and Next Steps with Representatives of the Indigenous Community: The public is invited to join us as we have a conversation with members of the first nation about their experience, their history and how we in the Tampa Bay area and the country as a whole can aid their healing as we navigate a path forward.
