|Bradenton, Fla. – The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature announced yesterday that Mrs. Kamala Martinez has been appointed the new Chief Philanthropy Officer of the Museum. Mrs. Martinez will assume her new responsibilities on February 13, 2023.
Mrs. Martinez is a corporate executive with over thirty years of business development and management experience. Most recently, she was the President and CEO of the United Way of Will County and the KidsMatter Foundation. She has held several board positions for not-for-profit organizations including the Will County Center for Economic Development, Indian Prairie Education Foundation, Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement Board of Trustees, the Art Institute of Chicago’s Corporate Advisory Committee, and former member of the Corporate Responsibility Group of Greater Chicago.
“Kamala knows how to get results.” said board member, Jeff Signor. “She knows how to work well with others and her credentials are off the charts. It will be exciting to see what she does with and for this community.”

|Most recently, while CEO and President at the United way of Will County Mrs. Martinez increased total impact giving by 68.1% and established a new business strategy that expanded corporate giving by 32.5%. As CEO and Executive Director at KidsMatter, Mrs. Martinez transformed the organization to expand reach and impact within the community by developing new curriculum and launching the Digital Leadership Summit Program and Career Pathways Program.

Mrs. Martinez received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Broadcasting, with a concentration in Natural Science, from the University of Iowa.
The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature is the largest natural history museum on Florida’s Gulf Coast. In addition to permanent exhibitions, The Bishop features a constantly changing lineup of special exhibitions.
