TAMPA, Fla., January 16, 2023 – Cathy Edmisten, RN, MBA, FACHE returned today to the HCA Healthcare West Florida Division as the new chief executive officer (CEO) for HCA Florida South Shore Hospital. Cathy is a 12-year HCA Healthcare veteran who most recently served as the chief operating officer (COO) at HCA Virginia Johnston-Willis Hospital, where she successfully led several key service lines, including oncology, orthopedics, urology, women’s services, comprehensive stroke and inpatient rehabilitation.
“Cathy is an accomplished leader with a strong understanding and appreciation of the healthcare needs of communities across the Tampa Bay area,” said Ravi Chari, president of HCA Healthcare West Florida Division. “She is returning at an exciting time for South Shore Hospital as the hospital expands its footprint in southern Hillsborough County.
In her past roles with the West Florida Division, Cathy served as COO for HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital and HCA Florida West Tampa from 2018 to 2021 and as interim CEO for South Shore Hospital from September 9 to November 9, 2020. Her accomplishments at South Tampa Hospital include developing the business plans for the new Hospital for Endocrine Surgery, A part of HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital and the new freestanding emergency room in Central Tampa, both of which opened this year. She also served as Vice President of Operations at HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital from 2011 to 2018, following a successful career in nursing leadership.

Cathy earned her Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Saint Leo University and her Associate of Science in Nursing and Associate of Arts in General Studies from Pasco-Hernando State College. She is also board certified in healthcare management by the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Cathy and her husband Scott are excited to return to Florida where their four children and seven grandchildren live. Cathy and Scott both love outdoor activities, including boating and camping.
