They are a recipient of the Wine Enthusiasts Wine Star Award and were recognized as the American Winery of the Year in 2016.
According to SustainableWineGrowing.org, Bonterra Vineyards emerged in 1990 and first released 1992 as one of the early pioneers in growing organic winegrapes. Bonterra has since become the number one selling brand of wines in the US made with organic grapes.
As pioneers of regenerative organic viticulture in California, Bonterra is devoted to sharing quality wines grounded in impactful practices. Biodynamic and regenerative organic farming practices coupled with sustainable business practices reflects Bonterra’ s mission of providing the highest quality wine while honoring their respectful collaboration with the land.
As stated on Bonterra.com, “There’s certified organic and then there’s the spirit of organic – our grapes are 100% of both. Organic certification means we don’t use synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. The spirit of organic means we don’t have to do all we do. The spirit of organic is a proactive approach that places us in tune with the vines and the land, observing their cues and anticipating what they need. Each and every vine has its own mood, and our viticulturists know them all. This ensures we are delivering the best expression of that fruit from our vines to your glass.”
