Carrollwood Day School seniors earn acceptance to Duke, Northwestern, Rice, among other top-tier schools in the competitive early decision and restrictive early action processes.
The college counseling department at Carrollwood Day School is pleased to announce that several students were accepted to colleges through the early decision I process. Early decision I is a binding commitment made by the applicant that informs a college or university that the student would be willing and able to attend the school if fortunate enough to be offered a place in the incoming class. This application category is an effective tool for students to demonstrate their strong interest in their number one choice school. This year, 21% of the senior class applied early decision I – the highest percentage in CDS history, and 69% were admitted to their first-choice school. We are thrilled and proud of the following students who have been accepted to their first-choice institution:
Yazan A.: Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
Hailey A-S.: Rice University
Bryce B.: Wesleyan University
Carter C.: Duke University
Lily C.: University of Miami
Asher G.: Syracuse University
Cayden M.: University of Miami
Finlay O.: Northeastern University
Tarek R.: Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
Mahir S.: Northwestern University
Additionally, one student was admitted to a school via restrictive early action. Similar to early decision, restrictive early action provides the student with the ability to hear their admission decision earlier in the process and demonstrate their strong interest in attending an institution. Unlike early decision, restrictive early action is non-binding, therefore students are welcome to apply to other schools via regular decision. Congratulations to our student from CDS who have been accepted to their restrictive early action school:
Evan H.: University of Notre Dame

FSU allowed FL residents to apply through early action for the first time this year, and while FSU had a 47% acceptance rate overall, 65% of the CDS students who applied were admitted. We expect to receive University of Florida (UF) decisions in late-February. FL state school acceptances include:
Florida State University (twenty students)
University of Central Florida (thirteen students)
University of South Florida (twenty-eight students)
Please join us in celebrating these students’ impressive achievements during the early admission process!
A special thank you to the college counseling staff for their dedication throughout the application process for our seniors. For more information about the CDS college counseling department, please visit their webpage at https://www.cdspatriots.org/academics/college-counseling.
