Gulfport, Florida – DRV Gallery owner Deserie Valloreo has combined two great passions – creating art with a purpose and celebrating music – into a January packed full of creativity at her namesake gallery in Gulfport.
‘Art for a Cause,’ the gallery’s debut themed exhibition, runs from January 19 – February 3, 2023 and showcases work created by artists from throughout the region to highlight a cause of their choosing. Ten percent of sales from the exhibition will be distributed to causes chosen by participating artists and the juried exhibition was judged by Katie Deits, Executive Director at Florida CraftArt.
On January 27 from 7-9pm, the gallery hosts ‘The Art of Music’ with Orilla, a world-music and jazz duo consisting of vocalist Ona Kirei and bassist Alejandro Arenas. They’ll be joined at the event by LaRue Nickelson, a prominent jazz guitarist on Tampa’s burgeoning jazz scene. Seating is limited and tickets are available at DRVGallery.com. A complimentary beverage of your choice is included in the ticket price.
Celebrating and performing music is a passion of both Valloreo and her husband, Jim Gilmour, who’ve performed musically across the region individually and jointly. Gilmour often performs at DRV Gallery during the first Friday of each month as part of First Friday Art Walk in Gulfport, which he’ll do on January 6th as part of the evening’s festivities.
