Ferman Automotive, Advanced Work Vans and Adrian Steel Each Contributed
TAMPA, Fla. – (Dec. 22, 2022) – Meals on Wheels of Tampa (MOWTampa) received an early holiday gift from
the business community with a new custom box truck to help them better meet the growing need for their
services. Ferman Automotive, Advanced Work Vans, and Adrian Steel all collaborated to make this solution a
reality.
For almost 50 years, Meals on Wheels of Tampa (MOWTampa) has been nourishing and enriching the lives of
Tampa seniors and the homebound by providing hot meals delivered daily by a caring volunteer. While between
1,000 – 1,200 homes are served per day, the need for services is growing. In order to meet that need,
MOWTampa reached out to Ferman Automotive to secure a 16-foot box truck at cost to help replace their aging
fleet and assist with deliveries.
“Once we had the truck, we needed to find a solution for shelving for the back of the truck to carry meals and
other product. The team at Advanced Work Vans and Adrian Steel donated their time and talents to identify a
custom solution and then designed, built and installed it for us at no cost,” said Steve King, executive director of
MOWTampa. “We couldn’t be more thrilled with the result, and our enhanced ability to care for our most
vulnerable population.”
While MOWTampa did not require refrigeration, the truck did need to be outfitted with fold-out shelving, which
is typically only available in two levels. Since MOWTampa required three levels, Adrian Steel was able to
engineer a customized plan to make the third level possible and Advanced Work Vans installed the final design.
“Working with MOWTampa on this project was a perfect complement to Advanced Work Vans and Adrian
Steel’s efforts to combat hunger,” said Craig Reed, general manager of Advanced Work Vans, Lakeland. “We do
food drives every year, and this is just another way we can be good citizens and support our community.”
