Welcome New Businesses: Oishi Sushi Hibachi and The Marketplace of Tarpon Springs Oishi Sushi, a new Japanese restaurant, opened in October on the Sponge Docks at 498 Athens St. The new restaurant offers sushi, sashimi, hibachi entrees, salads, and seldom found dishes like Negimaki. Oishi Sushi adds to the multicultural vibe of Athens Street, which also features Greek, Mexican, and Italian options within a two-block span. The Market Place of Tarpon Springs opened October 29 in the former Sweetbay at 1943 N. Pinellas Ave. The Market Place offers 29,000 sq. ft. featuring 21 specialty shops,110 variety shops, 200 vendor spaces, exhibits, a 1,600 sq. ft. banquet hall, and food for a fun and unique shopping experience.![]() ![]() |
New Townhome Project Slated for Union Academy Neighborhood A new 14-unit townhome project being developed in two phases is being proposed and going through formal approvals. Located along Grosse Avenue at the intersections of Boyer and Lime streets, the residential project consists of one six-unit townhome building and one seven-unit building. The project utilizes an urban design and will bring affordable housing to previously undeveloped and vacant parcels.![]() |
Coming Soon: The Tin Man A new restaurant is opening in December at 734 S. Pinellas Ave. replacing the popular Copper Mule and Chicago Smokehouse. The Tin Man is anticipating a mid-December opening. The new restaurant will feature some of Copper Mule’s favorites along with its own special recipes of American fare. Renovations are underway to the interior, and the new owners plan to bring back many of the popular game nights and live music.![]() |
