On November 18th, Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce awarded Island Gallery West the prestigious “Large Business of the Year—2023” award. On hand to receive the award was Jody Goldman, President of the gallery that is often voted the island’s “Favorite Gallery.” In accepting the award, Mrs. Goldman spoke about the dedication of the approximately 30 artists who not only educate island visitors and residents about various art media but provide them an opportunity to purchase the artworks. Many of the award banquet’s attendees were surprised to hear the gallery has operated in the same location for 32 years. Karen Beach, one of the gallery artists, wrote this year’s application stating that “Island Gallery West members serve as ambassadors to the community. Our visitors ask us a wide range of questions — not only about our artists and their art, but some come with questions looking for encouragement regarding their own artistic efforts.” Island Gallery West is currently interviewing new artists interested in joining the cooperative.
