5 School Holiday Camping Activities Your Kids Must Try to Learn New Things

November 21, 2022 by Post

When it comes to your school holiday camping activities, it is a fun-filled, stress-free vacation idea. Further, it helps school children to learn new and exciting skills. As far as the benefits of school holiday programs are concerned, it makes kids develop art and craft skills, make them environment conscious, help them to cope with stress, and cut back on boredom.

According to an article published in Huffington Post, camping with kids is quite beneficial but calls for proper planning. Here are five camping ideas for school kids:

1. Creating a campfire

Getting children motivated for building a campfire in the early evening before sundown, around the fire-pit is one thing that your little ones will love. The children can learn to collect little bark, twigs, small logs, and short sticks. The school staff can help small children with the collection of logs.

The little ones can place the tinder in the fire-pit, put the kindling, and light the fire. This activity should be done under the supervision of the staff. The children can add more logs and sticks to build up the fire. Your kids need to maintain a safe distance from the fire. They can sing, dance, and go around the pit. This is one activity that makes kiddos learn how to gather things and organize them together when doing any task.

2. Going for a hiking adventure

Day hiking is a fun activity for kids during their school holiday camping. They can sing, talk, or dance not to surprise any unsuspecting insects in the woods. Hiking also helps children with some good exercise for their good health. You can check out school holiday programs Melbourne to figure out what other activities to try than hiking.

3. Trying scavenger hunting

Scavenger hunting is thrilling for kids but try this activity before sunset. Collect things like colorful leaves, pebbles, flowers, special plants, bottle caps, marshmallows, and marbles. You can hide such items around the tent or campsite. Let the kids hunt for these things and find them. The kid who finds the maximum number of things should be rewarded with chocolate.

4. Studying insects

In a school day camping program, the kids can study different types of bugs beneath rocks in the woods. Observing critters is the best way children can learn more about nature as well as respect it. The kids should be careful not to crush them under their feet as bugs are an integral part of nature.

5. Participating in a quiz

Kids can test their quiz skills by asking multiple questions related to nature, flora, fauna, climate, etc. They will need to make a list of important questions and start quizzing the other kids in the group. This is a fun activity to help children learn new things about nature.

Conclusion

Though this is not an all-inclusive list of school camping activities, the most interesting ones are listed in this article. Try them in your upcoming school holiday program.
