WHAT: Current Initiatives (Current) and Local City Church are coming together to provide clean laundry and Thanksgiving meal boxes Saturday, November 19, to anyone in need. Organizers expect to wash and dry approximately 300 loads of laundry at no charge through its Laundry Project initiative. Holiday meal boxes will be available while supplies last.
The Laundry Project is committed to supporting residents in need and strives to bring renewed hope to thousands by creating a caring space at the laundromat and providing the funds and cleaning products necessary to wash and dry laundry.
Volunteers will be on site to assist with laundry services and organizers expect to clean more than ONE TON of shirts, socks, shorts, pants and sneakers as well as sheets, towels, blankets and anything else machine-washable!
Contributions from the community are always appreciated and donations of detergent, quarters (rolls of $10), garbage bags, coloring books, crayons, fabric softener and laundry baskets are continuously in need.
WHY: With the continuing rise of the cost of detergent and other household staples, clean laundry is not just an on-going financial burden for many families but is also a contributing factor to overall health and wellness. The Laundry Project is committed to doing what they can to bolster one’s well-being by easing the financial burden for those forced to choose between feeding their family or cleaning their clothes.
WHEN: Saturday, November 19 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
WHERE: Bay Laundromat located at 5030 E 10th Ave in Tampa
