The Wiregrass Turkey Trot, North Tampa Bay’s favorite family-focused Thanksgiving Day tradition, is back at the Shops at Wiregrass for the 10th year. The Rotary Club of New Tampa and AdventHealth Wesley Chapel are bringing all the fun, frolic and benefits you’ve come to expect.
The start/finish line forms at 28139 Paseo Drive, Wesley Chapel, FL 33543 on Thanksgiving morning Nov. 24. The gun goes off at 8 a.m. for the 5K. This year there’s a Kid’s Dash and 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk starting earlier. As always, all proceeds go to charity. The nine-year charitable total now tops $314,355. “We’ll have a costume contest, too,” said Craig DiCecco, Rotarian and 10-year chair of the event. “First prize is a round of golf for four at Saddlebrook including golf carts. To play, go to the selfie station outside J.C. Penney between 7 and 7:45 a.m.. Look for our photographer, sign up and get your photo taken. Winners will be announced at the beginning of the race awards ceremony.
This year, the Wiregrass Turkey Trot is presented by Florida Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. “They signed on with us right after the 2021 race and are amazing partners,” said Connie Bladon, Rotary Club of New Tampa fundraising chair. Other civically-minded sponsors include Advanced Dental Associated of New Tampa, Pioneer Medical Foundation, Tampa Home Group and Saddlebrook Resort Tampa. Craig added that Brass Tap is back again offering one free legal beverage for all registered 21+ Turkey Trotters after the race.
