Residential Fire, 1 occupant injured

(Spring Hill, FL) At 1:03 p.m. yesterday Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services (HCFES) responded to a reported residential fire in the 10,000 block of Tassel St. The call came from a neighbor who reported a fire from the garage and heavy smoke from the eves with reported people screaming from inside the home. 

HCFES arrived within 3 minutes and reported heavy smoke from the eves and garage. The crews advanced a hose stream and extinguished the fire within 11 minutes.  The fire was kept to the area of origin was deemed under control at 1:14 p.m.

The Florida State Fire Marshal was called to investigate the cause and origin of the fire.  One occupant was transported to the hospital by helicopter for injuries related to the fire.

HCFES responded with 4 fire engines, 1 Ladder Truck, 3 ALS medic units, 2 Battalion Chiefs, 3 Administrative Chiefs, and Fire Corps for a total of 33 personnel.

HCFES would like to remind the community that smoke detectors save lives, and to change the batteries in every year.
